PGP CORPORATION PARTNERS WITH IRONPORT SYSTEMS TO ADD ENCRYPTION TO INDUSTRY-LEADING EMAIL SECURITY APPLIANCE

Combined solution addresses enterprise need for integrated management of encryption, digital signatures, antivirus, antispam, and content-filtering technologies

Palo Alto, CA/San Bruno, CA/15 September, 2004 — PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise encryption solutions, and IronPort™ Systems, Inc., the world's leading email security appliance company, today announced the integration of PGP® Universal's automatic, network-based encryption with IronPort Systems's C-SeriesT email security appliances. Based on a centralized policy, IronPort's C-Series email appliance can now route confidential messages to a PGP Universal Server for encryption, decryption, and digital signatures, allowing customers to easily add automatic encryption to their email gateway. Deployed at the network edge, the IronPort solution leverages PGP Universal to encrypt and send email that in the past may have been quarantined or blocked by content filters, allowing IT managers to both meet corporate security requirements and users' need to have their email delivered promptly. Joint customer deployment evaluations have been performed by a number of enterprise customers, including a large international financial institution, one of the world's largest diversified manufacturers, and a major U.S. airline. Products are available immediately from IronPort Systems and PGP Corporation.

PGP Universal
PGP Universal automatically handles all encryption, decryption, and digital signature requirements for both gateway and end-to-end email security. Inbound encrypted email is received by the IronPort MTA, routed to PGP Universal for decryption, and then forwarded for scanning and security procedures. Outbound mail policy, based on individual sender, receiver, group, domain, content, or format, is applied by the IronPort MTA; email that must be secured is routed to PGP Universal for automatic key management, key look-up, encryption, and digital signature. Email, which in the past may have violated security policy and been quarantined, can now can be encrypted and delivered. PGP Universal reaches all existing users of standard encryption products (OpenPGP and S/MIME), securely sends to recipients without encryption products, and provides two-way policy enforcement.
