Media Release: PGP Corporation Partners With IronPort Systems PGP CORPORATION PARTNERS WITH IRONPORT SYSTEMS TO ADD ENCRYPTION TO INDUSTRY-LEADING EMAIL SECURITY APPLIANCE Combined solution addresses enterprise need for integrated management of encryption, digital signatures, antivirus, antispam, and content-filtering technologies Palo Alto, CA/San Bruno, CA/15 September, 2004 — PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise encryption solutions, and IronPort™ Systems, Inc., the world's leading email security appliance company, today announced the integration of PGP® Universal's automatic, network-based encryption with IronPort Systems's C-SeriesT email security appliances. Based on a centralized policy, IronPort's C-Series email appliance can now route confidential messages to a PGP Universal Server for encryption, decryption, and digital signatures, allowing customers to easily add automatic encryption to their email gateway. Deployed at the network edge, the IronPort solution leverages PGP Universal to encrypt and send email that in the past may have been quarantined or blocked by content filters, allowing IT managers to both meet corporate security requirements and users' need to have their email delivered promptly. Joint customer deployment evaluations have been performed by a number of enterprise customers, including a large international financial institution, one of the world's largest diversified manufacturers, and a major U.S. airline. Products are available immediately from IronPort Systems and PGP Corporation. "Enterprise customers have realized they must meet corporate and regulatory security requirements without interfering with normal business processes," said Matt Cain, Senior Analyst, META Group. "Merging encryption and digital signature technology with gateway email hygiene deployments increases email security without placing further burdens on users, while minimizing IT involvement. The key to a successful merger of hygiene and security services is tight integration, centralized management, and standards-based technology." "Integration with the IronPort C-Series, a best-of-breed email security appliance, greatly expands our offering for enterprise customers," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Our PGP Universal encryption server can now work in parallel with the email flow, touching only those messages that require encryption, decryption, and digital signatures. This joint solution provides greater policy flexibility, including the ability to encrypt based on individual sender, recipient, domain, content, or format. By integrating with IronPort, we give our enterprise customers the ability to deploy PGP encryption as part of their email infrastructure without disruption or added complexity." "Customers rely on IronPort for comprehensive, high-performance, policy-driven email security from a single source," said Tom Gillis, SVP Worldwide Marketing, IronPort Systems. "Email security is not just virus and spam protection, but also the ability to filter and secure confidential and proprietary email contents and attachments. With PGP Universal, we now provide enterprise customers a complete solution that combines encryption with our industry-leading MTA platform, policy enforcement, and preventive and reactive security measures, including sender reputation, virus outbreaks, spam blocking and virus detection."
