PGP CORPORATION ANNOUNCES PHIL ZIMMERMANN'S SELECTION TO THE HEINZ NIXDORF MUSEUMSFORUM'S WALL OF FAME

PGP Corporation Technical Advisory Board Member recognized for significant contributions to advancing encryption technology

Palo Alto, CA/31 August, 2004 — PGP Corporation, a global leader in digital information security, today announced that Phil Zimmermann, developer of PGP technology and member of PGP Corporation's Technical Advisory Board, has been selected to the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum's Wall of Fame for significant achievements in the advancement of information technology. Zimmermann consults on cryptography and technology for a number of companies and industry organizations through his company Phil Zimmermann and Associates and is a Fellow at the Stanford Law School Center for Internet and Society.

The Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum is the world's largest computer museum. It presents the history of information technology in an exhibition covering 6,000m², from its beginnings in Mesopotamia in 3,000 B.C. through the twenty-first century.

The new electronic "Wall of Fame" in the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum presents 150 researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and end users who have played key roles in the advance of information technology since 1945. Texts, images, and films present leading personalities in 36 categories-from the inventors of the transistor to Bill Gates. Zimmermann was selected for inclusion in the area of cryptology.

About Phil Zimmermann
Mr. Zimmermann received his bachelor's degree in computer science from Florida Atlantic University in 1978. He is a member of the International Association of Cryptologic Research, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the League for Programming Freedom. He serves on the Roundtable on Scientific Communication and National Security, a collaborative project of The National Academies and The Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is Chairman of the OpenPGP Alliance, serves on the Board of Directors for Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility, and is on the Advisory Boards for Anonymizer.com, Hush Communications, PGP Corporation, and Qualys.

Zimmermann has received numerous technical and humanitarian awards for his pioneering work in cryptography. In 2001, he was inducted into the CRN Industry Hall of Fame. In 2000, InfoWorld named him one of the Top 10 Innovators in E-Business. In 1999, he received the Louis Brandeis Award from Privacy International, in 1998 a Lifetime Achievement Award from Secure Computing Magazine, and in 1996 the Norbert Wiener Award from Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility for promoting the responsible use of technology. He also received the 1996 PC Week IT Excellence Award, the 1996 Network Computing Well-Connected Award for Best Security Product, the 1995 Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design, and the 1995 Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation. In 1995, Newsweek named Zimmermann one of the "Net 50," the 50 most influential people on the Internet. PGP was selected by Information Week as one of the Top 10 Most Important Products of 1994.
