Media Release: PGP Corporation Announces RIM Alliance

PGP CORPORATION ANNOUNCES BLACKBERRY SUPPORT AND RESEARCH IN MOTION ALLIANCE

PGP Corporation and RIM work together to secure Fortune 1000 enterprises

Palo Alto, CA/18 May, 2004 – PGP Corporation today announced an alliance with Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM ) (TSX: RIM) that will expand existing compatibility between PGP® Universal and BlackBerry Enterprise ServerT. The companies are working together to provide seamless integration for customers deploying both enterprise-wide PGP Universal email security and the BlackBerry® wireless platform.

"For many customers, BlackBerry has become an important part of the enterprise email infrastructure," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "This alliance with RIM reflects our commitment to support all protocols, email standards, and platforms required to achieve universal enterprise email security and policy compliance."

With compatibility between BlackBerry Enterprise Server and gateway deployments of PGP Universal, customers using the S/MIME (Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) Support Package for BlackBerry can now load X.509 certificates into the PGP Universal Server to achieve automatic email encryption, decryption, digital signatures, and policy enforcement for BlackBerry users in the gateway. PGP Corporation and RIM are developing a joint configuration guide to help enterprises successfully deploy PGP Universal and BlackBerry Enterprise Server in complex network environments.

"The BlackBerry wireless platform was designed specifically to meet the strict security requirements of Fortune 1000 companies and government organizations," said David Yach, senior vice president of software at Research In Motion. "For companies and government agencies that have advanced security standards like S/MIME, PGP simplifies the deployment and integration effort required for security policy compliance."

BlackBerry Enterprise Server
BlackBerry is the industry-leading wireless platform that connects mobile professionals to their important information and communications via email, phone, corporate data, Web, SMS, and organizer applications. For corporate and government organizations, BlackBerry Enterprise Server software tightly integrates with Microsoft® Exchange or IBM Lotus® DominoT and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based, wireless access to existing email and other corporate data.

PGP Universal Server
PGP Universal provides practical, wide-scale deployment of secure messaging. By moving email encryption responsibility away from users to the network, encryption, decryption, and digital signatures are automatic and user-transparent. Messages are encrypted to individual keypairs and secured even when recipients have no keys. PGP Universal can quickly and cost-effectively secure up to 100% of an enterprise's users-both inside and outside the organization. PGP Universal supports both OpenPGP and X.509 + S/MIME standards and delivers low-cost deployment through its self-deploying, proxy-based architecture. Keys are created dynamically, allowing IT control over bidirectional policy enforcement. PGP Universal Server, available worldwide through PGP Corporation and approved resellers, includes support for BlackBerry as part of standard pricing.
