Media Release: PGP Corporation Delivers Japanese Localized Encryption Solutions for Enterprise Deployments

PGP Corporation Delivers Broadest Range of Encryption Solutions for Enterprise Deployments

New PGP Encryption Solutions Deliver Consistent Policy Enforcement, Reduce Operational Costs, Accelerate Deployment Time

Tokyo/13 November, 2006 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, today announced the availability of significant application upgrades across its portfolio localized for the Japanese market. New versions in this multi-product release include PGP® Whole Disk Encryption, PGP Universal™ Server, PGP Universal™ Gateway Email, and PGP® Desktop. The company also announced the availability of PGP® NetShare, which enables teams to manage and share encrypted network-based files. These PGP® Encryption Platform–enabled applications are designed to meet customer requirements for rapidly deployable encryption solutions with consistent policy enforcement and key management.

With this release, PGP Corporation continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Japanese market by delivering localized versions of its portfolio only 1 month after English-language availability. The new product versions feature revised user interfaces, improved documentation, and numerous enhancements that benefit end users as well as IT administrators.

“Since establishing our presence in Japan last year, PGP Corporation has focused on the unique requirements of Japanese customers, and we continue to deliver relevant, timely solutions,” said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. “We have delivered a complete architecture and infrastructure for customers to protect their data and intellectual property as well as their customers’ and partners’ data and IP. We have continued to expand our partner ecosystem by developing strong relationships with Japanese distributors. We also continue to build comprehensive, rapidly deployable solutions for customers to mitigate current and future data security threats. We are pleased to deliver this robust offering to the Japanese marketplace and further strengthen our commitment to this important market.”

Masahiro Asai, director of PGP Japan K.K., said, “PGP Corporation’s presence has been well-received in Japan, and the initial acceptance and success of PGP Whole Disk Encryption demonstrates our ability to meet the specific needs of Japanese customers. This new product offering will enable us to further expand our customer base throughout Japan.”

Facing highly publicized data breaches, regulatory pressures, and compliance concerns that negatively affect brands and company reputations, global organizations are increasingly looking to deploy integrated, corporate-wide encryption solutions. Many of the available approaches present serious challenges, however. Deploying and supporting numerous applications and resulting content silos create costly, unnecessary burdens on IT teams. Unlike point products that address a single threat or cobbled-together product suites that lack integration, the PGP Encryption Platform delivers a single, cohesive infrastructure that reduces IT operational costs and eliminates the duplicative tasks, systems, training, and support issues that plague other approaches. The PGP Encryption Platform is deployed upon installation of the first PGP application, enabling organizations to benefit from best-in-class encryption in phases or as business requirements emerge and evolve.

New Application – PGP NetShare: Network File Encryption Solution Now Shipping
Now available, PGP NetShare enables enterprises to protect valuable data that is commonly shared across multiple project teams and among employees and outside contractors and partners. PGP NetShare is a PGP Encryption Platform–enabled application that automatically encrypts files saved to shared network folders, ensuring that only authorized users can read or modify the content. It does not affect user behavior, applications, or workflow and increases productivity by delivering complete data protection on the network server, over the network, and on the desktop for all common digital formats—documents,  spreadsheets, presentations, Web, video, and audio—without modification.

Enhanced PGP Applications: Fully Integrated, Platform-Enabled, Enterprise-Ready
PGP Whole Disk Encryption protects intellectual property, customer data, and brand equity with transparent, full disk encryption that locks down a drive without changing user behavior or workflow. The application secures data from multiple threats with a single, centrally managed client, making theft or loss of a system or removable media far less damaging to a user or business. It also provides safe, single sign-on to Microsoft Windows through password synchronization and is available for Mac OS X non-boot drives, enabling removable media to be encrypted and shared between users on different operating systems.

The foundation for the PGP Encryption Platform, PGP Universal Server provides unified, Web-based administration for all PGP Encryption Platform–enabled applications, users, policies, provisioning, logging, and reporting through a single management console. This latest version expands policy administration and management for organizations to define encryption behavior for how data is secured. PGP Universal Server includes key management and user provisioning enhancements and delivers increased support for international character sets. Built to embrace standards, PGP Universal Server supports OpenPGP, S/MIME, X.509, and other standards to ensure broad interoperability.

PGP Universal Gateway Email delivers the same multiple standards–based options for securing email with expanded mail policy granularity by encrypting messages that match administrator specifications for both inbound and outbound email. The application also includes enhancements to PGP Universal Web Messenger, which enables secure communications with partners or suppliers that do not have an encryption solution. This latest version now supports large message delivery, up to 50MB, and reduces storage requirements by removing messages according to a message aging policy.

The PGP Encryption Platform: Enterprise-Class Protection
The PGP Encryption Platform lowers operational costs and accelerates application deployment through a single management console for centralized policy and configuration. The platform provides multiple layers of encryption across a global enterprise with comprehensive policy enforcement, key management, recovery, and reporting services. A true enterprise offering, the PGP Encryption Platform is extensible, providing standards-based interfaces for third-party developers. The platform also integrates with third-party enterprise solutions, including directory services and PKIs as well as email hygiene and outbound content compliance solutions.

Availability
PGP Corporation licenses are based on the encryption applications selected and the management tools used. Customer options range from a single seat of a single encryption application, to multiple seats of a single application with management server, to a mix-and-match combination of encryption applications all managed by the same server.

The updated PGP product lines are available immediately in Japan from PGP distribution partners:
