Media Release: DeKalb Medical Center Standardizes on PGP Encryption Platform PGP ENCRYPTION PLATFORM HELPS DEKALB MEDICAL CENTER MEET HIPAA REQUIREMENTS WHILE CUTTING COSTS Integrated PGP Applications Secure Health Care Communications and Expand Service Options for Patients and Partners Palo Alto, CA/08 August, 2006 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, today announced that DeKalb Medical Center, a Georgia-based hospital system, is using the PGP® Encryption Platform to monitor and secure the privacy of patients’ health records. Protection of “individually identifiable health information” is required by the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). DeKalb Medical Center is using PGP Universal™ for gateway email encryption to securely transfer confidential financial, patient, and billing information to doctors and insurers as well as accounting, third-party billing, and collection companies. The medical center is also using PGP® Command Line to protect files in storage and transit, eliminating the need for a virtual private network. “With the standards-based PGP Encryption Platform, we quickly deployed an enterprise-class email encryption solution without installing anything on any desktop — and performance is phenomenal,” said Sharon Finney, information security administrator for DeKalb Medical Center. “The PGP Encryption Platform gives us the flexibility to exchange data securely with recipients that use other encryption standards such as S/MIME or don’t have an encryption solution. Because all sensitive information is automatically secured, end users don’t have to worry about classifying and encrypting information.” About PGP Universal About PGP Command Line About the PGP Encryption Platform About DeKalb Medical Center About PGP Corporation Media & analyst contact for PGP Corporation: Some of the statements in this press release are forward-looking, including statements regarding the availability, plans, delivery, goals, development, expected features, expected benefits and competitive position of PGP products implementing or leveraging the PGP technologies.
