Media Release: Gartner Report on Mobile Data Protection Gartner Report Places PGP Corporation in Visionaries Quadrant Evaluation Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute Palo Alto, CA/ 12 September, 2006 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, today announced that it has been positioned in the Visionaries quadrant in the newly released Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection, 1H06” report1. According to the analyst group, “Visionaries have made investments in broad functionality and platform support.” “We’re pleased to be placed in the Visionaries Quadrant by Gartner,” said Olivia Dillan, group vice president, technology and services, PGP Corporation. “Customers are pleased that we shipped a visionary product in the first release of our whole disk encryption functionality as part of PGP Universal™. By leveraging our existing encryption architecture and applications platform, we’ve built upon a solid foundation, delivering a product that has exceeded our customers’ expectations and that we’ll extend over time." Gartner’s inclusion criteria for the Magic Quadrant report includes: (i) “client interest and inquiry sufficient to be noticed by security analysts”, (ii) “Gartner analysts have a generally favorable opinion about the company’s ability to compete in the market”, and (iii) it “appears regularly on Gartner clients’ shortlists for final evaluation”2. Customers continue to validate the importance of PGP® encryption solutions. “Hard disk encryption of mobile computers is an essential part of our compliance strategy,” said Simon Leggett, European technical services manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd. (SCEE). “SCEE chose PGP® Whole Disk Encryption because it is easy to deploy, administer, and use. And because PGP Corporation offers a comprehensive, integrated encryption platform, we can immediately deploy the disk encryption solution we need and add other capabilities such as email protection later.” PGP Corporation’s central management server, PGP Universal, provides administration, configuration, silent installation, and policy management for PGP Corporation’s whole disk and PGP® Support Package for BlackBerry® handheld email encryption solutions, among others. Using a sector rather than a file-based design allows PGP products to operate in the background, encrypting and decrypting files (even during initial encryption) without disrupting normal usage. Unique recovery passphrase features allow administrators to provide users one-time access, eliminating the use of single global administrative passwords inherent in other industry solutions. Once a PGP Universal Server has been deployed, additional features can be licensed and other elements of the “deploy-once” PGP® Encryption Platform can be implemented, including gateway and desktop email encryption, digital signatures, instant messaging security, server-to-server encryption, and tape/archival protection. About the Magic Quadrant PGP solutions are used by more than 30,000 enterprises, businesses, and governments worldwide, including 84 percent of the Fortune® 100 and 66 percent of the Fortune® Global 100. As a result, PGP Corporation has earned a global reputation for innovative, standards-based, and trusted solutions. PGP solutions help protect confidential information, secure customer data, achieve regulatory and audit compliance, and safeguard companies’ brands and reputations.
