Press Release: PGP Corporation Announces General Availability of PGP Endpoint
New Offering Prevents Data Loss from Removable Storage and Portable Device Connections
Menlo Park, CA/21 July, 2008 - PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced general availability of PGP® Endpoint, a centrally managed data loss prevention solution that provides integrated data encryption and device policy enforcement for all removable storage devices (USB drives, CDs and DVDs) and mobile data connection technologies (e.g. Wi-Fi, FireWire, Bluetooth, etc.) to protect laptops, desktops, mobile devices and ports. This enables administrators to reduce operational costs and IT resources. Extending the award-winning PGP® Encryption Platform, PGP Endpoint mitigates an enterprise's risk and reduces operational costs and IT resources by protecting all types of data storage across the corporation, enabling companies to enforce security policies and maintain compliance.
Current business demands now require "data on the move" to be a constant necessity. Cost-effective, easy-to-use removable digital storage devices and mobile connection technologies support this trend and continue to gain popular and widespread use across enterprise environments. However, while mobile endpoint devices and connections are convenient and increase employee productivity, they present new security risks to the enterprise as the data on such devices and media most often contains intellectual property or private customer information.
As an extension of the PGP Encryption Platform, PGP Endpoint provides enterprises with another layer of security by offering an integrated encryption approach for a broader set of applications and devices. PGP Endpoint provides built-in security that protects data by transparently detecting, allowing or disallowing, and if required encrypting, removable storage devices and portable device connections. With PGP Endpoint, administrators can easily establish and enforce policies for device usage via USB, FireWire, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. Administrators can also specify and allow only authorized use of devices and sharing of encrypted data. PGP Endpoint requires no change to the user experience and uses centralized policy management by enforcing consistent encryption and "whitelist" policies by leveraging existing infrastructure.
"The exposure of sensitive data that results from the loss or theft of a removable storage device or medium can result in financial loss, legal ramifications, and embarrassing brand damage," said Phil Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Until now, organizations have relied on end user education and compliance to corporate security policies to protect sensitive data. PGP Endpoint provides built-in security that detects, authorizes and secures removable storage devices and media as well as enforces a centrally defined device usage policy and stops data loss from network and peripheral connections."
Additionally, PGP Endpoint enables administrators to review device usage logs and establish policies to monitor the content of data transferred/exchanged to and from the device. Together PGP® Whole Disk Encryption and PGP Endpoint provide enterprises with award winning solutions to prevent data loss from laptops, desktops, removable storage, devices and ports. The PGP Encryption Platform offers organizations a proactive approach to enable encryption of additional applications to plan for future needs as part of an Enterprise Data Protection strategy.
Pricing and Availability
PGP Endpoint is now generally available through PGP Corporation's worldwide network of PGP Corporation sales and channel partners. Pricing starts at $49/seat.
