Software AG Deploys the PGP Encryption Platform to Protect Confidential Data

Global Software Provider Extends Use of PGP Technology with PGP Whole Disk Encryption

Palo Alto, CA / 10 April, 2008 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data security and encryption solutions, today announced that Software AG, a global leader in Business Infrastructure Software, is extending its use of PGP® solutions to protect and defend its confidential data. The company is deploying a PGP® product bundle that includes PGP® Whole Disk Encryption to deliver comprehensive encryption for laptop and desktop computers as well as centralized management of its encryption applications.

Headquartered in Germany with offices around the world, Software AG has delivered high-performance databases, application development tools, and integration technologies for 38 years. The company’s focus on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) enables its 4,000 customers to create powerful enterprise applications, especially in heterogeneous IT environments. The company recognized the value of safeguarding its information—intellectual property, customer and sales data—and looked for a solution to avoid a potential breach.

“If our confidential data lands in the wrong hands, the damage can be enormous. We had to face this risk and find an effective solution,” said Dr. Dirk Ventur, Chief Information Officer and Head of Global Support, Software AG. “PGP Corporation was the only software vendor to offer integrated email and hard disk encryption using the same client. We save time and money by efficiently managing multiple security applications with PGP Universal Server instead of using individual products.”

Software AG had been using PGP® products since 1998 to secure its internal email, and now has expanded its security framework. Software AG deployed PGP® Desktop Professional across corporate-issued laptops for managers, executives, and salespeople. PGP Desktop Professional combines PGP® Desktop Email and PGP Whole Disk Encryption, providing comprehensive protection of sensitive data in email, instant messages, and on disk or removable media. PGP Desktop Professional secures confidential information wherever it exists, protecting the business and helping meet partner and regulatory mandates for information security and privacy.
