Media Release: PGP Corporation Wins Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Award

PGP Encryption Platform Wins the “Network Security” Category

Palo Alto, CA/27 September, 2007 – PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced that The Wall Street Journal, the world’s leading business publication, has selected the PGP® Encryption Platform as the winner of its 2007 Technology Innovation Award in the Network Security category. The annual Awards recognize innovative individuals, companies, and organizations around the world in a wide range of technology categories, including energy, environment, software, media/broadcasting, and medical/biotech. Past Innovation Award winners include IBM and Sun Microsystems.

“We‘re honored to join the ranks of previous award-winners who have transformed their marketplace,” said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and chief executive officer of PGP Corporation. “This award endorses what we hear every day: security resides in a ‘culture of data’. Our platform approach addresses today’s critical business issues. From regulatory compliance to complex partner and customer requirements, it’s all about protecting the data. We make it easy for global organizations across all major verticals to create a comprehensive enterprise data protection strategy."

The Journal received more than 800 applications for the Innovation Awards and narrowed the field to 150 semifinalists. The winners were chosen by an esteemed, independent panel of judges from organizations such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Georgia Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, Sun Microsystems, and VMware. The judges based their decisions on whether the technology represented a breakthrough from conventional ideas or methods in its field and if it went beyond incremental improvements or technologies that already exist.

The PGP Encryption Platform reduces the complexity of deploying encryption solutions across the enterprise. Asheem Chandna, a partner with venture-capital firm Greylock Partners of San Mateo, CA, and one of the judges said, “Encryption suffers from being hard to implement, and that’s probably the No. 1 reason it’s not more broadly deployed. These guys have made it really easy to implement.”

The PGP Encryption Platform transforms enterprise data protection from a difficult, time-consuming undertaking to a straightforward, cost-effective, manageable process. By providing a strategic enterprise encryption framework, the PGP Encryption Platform allows organizations to meet today’s data protection needs—with the flexibility to accommodate new business requirements as they emerge and evolve.

The list of award winners is included in print editions of The Wall Street Journal dated September 24, 2007, and online: http://www.dowjones.com/innovation/
